Project - Britte Luts
Description
To position the homes on the site, the choice was made to start from the existing paving.
The area of the existing paving was not enough to place the houses on, the approach was
to reduce the size of the center square. Next to the center square there is an alley that
opens onto the site, this alley will be extended within the project.
The diversity of housing types and the implementation of new housing types in Beverlo
are typical for the new residential area. 38 row houses, two corner buildings and one co-
housing project are newly implemented. The two existing row houses will be involved
along with the new row houses. There will be four types of row houses. The first two types
will both face the street but one will have a private garden and the other type will connect
to a collective garden. For the two remaining types, this situation of the gardens is the
same but these types will face the square. The two corner buildings will have a public
function, this has not yet been determined.
Part of the old OCMW building will be demolished and this is where the co-housing
project will be located. The community center 'De Kardijk' will be included in the co-
housing project. Underneath the project there will be parking spaces, bicycle parking and
a green space. These elements will be shared with the community center. Within the co-
housing project it was decided to share the living spaces with each other and keep the
sleeping area, bathroom, office and terrace private. There is also a shared roof terrace on
the roof of the building.
So the redesign of the center square is about the diversity of housing types and green
open spaces where people can meet.
